Education
The
UCSF Cardiology Faculty present several ACC accredited
courses and seminars through out the year for physicians.
The courses are listed below. For more details on them,
or to ask about other courses, please contact The

"Cardiology Update ", an ACC accredited
seminar for physicians, is presented every fall in Carmel,
California. This clinically oriented course is designed
for cardiologists, internists and family practitioners.
Recent advances in cardiology will be reviewed to update
the physician on newer ways of evaluating and managing
patients with cardiovascular disease.
"Critical
Care Cardiology", an ACC accredited seminar
for physicians, is presented every summer in San Francisco,
California. This course is intended for cardiovascular
specialists, and intensive care personnel. It provides
up-to-date information on the management of critically
ill patients both in the Coronary Care Unit and in the
post-surgical Intensive Care Unit. The management of
acute myocardial infarction and its complications, advances
in the management of heart failure, arrhythmias, acute
heart failure due to valvular heart disease, and pulmonary
hypertension will be discussed.
"Heart
Disease in Women", an ACC accredited seminar
for physicians, is presented every fall in San Francisco,
California. This course will include all major topics
relating to women and heart disease: diagnosis, risk
factors and prevention strategies, management and outcomes.
Issues related to pregnancy and heart disease, arrythmias,
heart failure, cardiac transplantation, hypertension,
an update on the status of hormone replacement therapy,
and clinical trials will also be presented. There will
be an emphasis on gender specific information. This
course is appropriate for primary care physicians, nurses,
as well as cardiologists.
Grand
Rounds
The
UCSF Cardiology Division presents lectures, by visiting
faculty and our own faculty, in Cardiology Research
Wednesday afternoons on the UCSF campus.
